I've spent the last 6 weeks getting these 17 lovely people from Couch to Comedy. They totally smashed their showcase last night and I'm utterly proud of them all.

Lovely afternoon teaching comedy to Armed Forces Veterens.🤣 Hey Bravos,
One of the joys of being part of Bravo 22 is chuckles and smiles we get to share along the way! So it is a pleasure to introduce our latest creative in our MEET THE CREATIVE series, ANGIE BELCHER, who will be leading our upcoming Intro To Comedy session.
Angie Belcher is a comedy pioneer, whose career has evolved from stand up, acting and performing to award-winning work as a coach and trainer, teaching comedy to CEO’s and staff at major organisations and delivering ground-breaking workshops through the NHS.
Angie is course leader for stand -up comedy on Circomedia’s BA course in Contemporary Performing Arts, Writer in Residence for First Story, Associate Lecturer in Comedy Writing at the University of Worcester and Comedian in Academic Residence at the University of Bristol. The Hague awarded her World Comedian of Emancipation 2022.
We’re so excited for Angie to help the Intro to comedy participants find the funny in life. Using practical exercises, writing games, psychological theories, and solo writing time to help write and perform with the gravitas of a pro! 🤣
Bring on the laughs!

Sooooo proud of my awesome Circomedia students who did their stand up comedy module assessment showcase today.
They were not only funny, but managed to bring rape, suicide, and grief to the stage in a magically humorous way but also with compassion and gravitas, which for a first time set is brave and risky.
And they totally smashed the ass out if it.
I love working with young people, I learn so much about empathy, kindness and humanity from them.
Miss 'em already ... See MoreSee Less

My new audio play is ready for your ears!
Walking with Toddlers' is a comic audio play about the joys and frustrations of going for a walk with a pre-schooler as a mother, co-written and co-produced by Angie Belcher (writer, director, comedian, and facilitator) and Eleanor Rycroft (Senior Lecturer in Theatre and gender historian). It uses the juxtaposition of an idealised walk imagined via 'Minarra's Mindful Mummies Podcast' and the reality of walking with a toddler, to consider how care-giving can provide both obstructions and opportunities when trying to get from A to B.
Steff - Alex Tregear
Minarra - Trish Ferguson-Jay
Billy - Sebi Winfield Torz Winfield
Mrs Mabel - Ellie Rycroft
Male drivers - Tim Wilderspin
Written and Produced by Angie Belcher and Ellie Rycroft
Directed by Angie Belcher
Sound Design by Tim Wilderspin
Original music by Patrick Farrell
Chaperone Tori Winfield
Recorded at Legacy Studio I'm Bristol.
With many thanks to the Brigstow Institute Brigstow Institute, University of Bristol and the Division of Research, Enterprise and Innovation at the University of Bristol for their support of this project.
